Weekly Assembly
Each Friday, we hold our weekly assembly in St. Brigid’s Hall. The purpose of the assembly is to recognise and reward the good work of the children during the week. There may also be reminders about school rules, though the emphasis is very strongly on positive reinforcement.

The star pupil from each class is selected by the class teacher and the winner receives a Pupil of the Week certificate. This certificate is awarded for general good behaviour, kindness and helpfulness in addition to good academic work during the week. Full attendance during the week is also recognised and those pupils from each classroom who have not missed a day during the week receive a “Bualadh Bos” from their fellow pupils. At the end of each month all pupils who have not missed any day are rewarded with a Homework Voucher.

Recently, to further develop an interest in Problem Solving in Maths, we have introduced a Maths problem per class each week. Pupils who have completed it successfully are entered into a draw per class for a lucky dip. The Parents Council organise “Split the Pot” each week and the raffle is held at Assembly. And one class provides a short entertainment session by reciting poems, singing, or playing music. Assembly is very popular and encourages excellent work.
